This Privacy Policy explains how Vimba ("the app," "we," "us," or "our") handles information. Vimba is a macOS app and Safari extension made by Nana Annor Asante that filters videos, channels, comments, and other distractions on YouTube.

Vimba is built with privacy in mind. Its App Store description states that Vimba does not collect personal data, use analytics, or send information to third-party servers, and its App Store privacy label is listed as Data Not Collected.

Vimba does not require an account and is not designed to collect personal information or analytics. Your filtering settings stay on your device.

Your filtering rules — such as blocked videos and channels, comment filters, keyword filters, regular expressions, and advanced blocking options — are stored locally so the extension can apply them.

To filter YouTube pages, Vimba inspects page content locally within your browser — for example, video titles, channel names, comment text, video length, and on-page controls — so it can hide or block content according to your rules. This inspection happens on your Mac. Vimba does not send this page content, your settings, or your browsing activity to us or to any third party.

YouTube is a service provided by Google and has its own terms and privacy practices. Vimba is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google or YouTube. Your use of YouTube itself is governed by Google's policies, which are separate from this policy.

Your locally stored settings are used only to apply your filters within your browser. They are not used for advertising, profiling, or tracking.

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information, because the app does not collect or transmit any.

Your settings remain on your device for as long as the app is installed and are removed when you delete the app.

Because your settings stay on your device, they are protected by your device's own security. We do not operate servers that store your personal information.

You control all of your filtering rules and can edit or clear them at any time. You can also disable or remove the Safari extension in your browser settings, or delete the app to remove its local data.

Vimba is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Vimba is distributed through the Mac App Store. Downloads and updates are handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy.
